Day 5- Oct 1st 2012 Onzain to Tournon Saint Martin (Total 65 miles - Running Total 349 miles)

Despite some spectacular scenery and gorgeous warm sunshine this proved to be the most difficult day of the ride to date starting with a steep climb out of Onzain. After a glorious ride through forests, the ride became harder and harder with a very strong head wind all day, some busy roads, steep climbs and rough tarmac roads which were quite uncharacteristic of France. This was the first day I doubted my ability to get to Barcelona and my misery was compounded by the sat nav trying to take me on unpaved roads which were impossible for a road bike. By the time I reached Tournon Saint Martin I was physically exhausted with a major pain in my bum from so many hours in the saddle - not a good day for me.
